Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) - VHS Home Heal

Virginia Health Services is hiring a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants for both the Peninsula and Southside areas including:

  • Kilmarnock
  • Gloucester
  • Williamsburg/York County
  • Newport News/Hampton
  • Virginia Beach
  • Norfolk/Portsmouth/Chesapeake
  • Suffolk/Isle of Wight County

The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant has the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting in screening and initial evaluations of all patients performed by the physical therapist when requested.
  • Executing treatment for patients assigned by the licensed or registered physical therapist for whom a treatment plan has been developed.
  • Appropriately delivering treatment to achieve identified objectives according to the established treatment plan.
  • Appropriately documenting progress toward identified objectives.
  • Communicating patient status and needs to the patient, the patient's family, the staff and other professionals.
  • Establishing and maintaining courteous and helpful interaction patterns with staff, patients and families which reflect sensitivity to individual needs and a problem-solving approach.
  • Actively assisting in educating staff, other health care professionals, and the general community about physical therapy and VHRA services on a consistent basis.
  • Attending facility patient care, utilization review, marketing administrative staff/department head, and family conference committee meetings as directed by the physical therapist.
  • Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with other health care professionals and colleagues in the community.
  • Maintaining awareness of change in patient populations, patient conditions and programs.
  • Keeping the licensed or registered physical therapist informed, directly and in a timely manner, of patient progress and facility issues.
  • Adhering to the requirements of the patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Expanding and enhancing clinical techniques through interacting with therapists and other professional staff and by attending continuing education functions as approved.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school for Physical Therapy Assistants.
  • Must hold a valid state license.
  • Must show evidence of a current satisfactory physical examination and/or evidence of freedom from communicable diseases, where required by the state.
