Description

Northern Rivers strives to provide all the resources needed for our communities and the families we serve to achieve success as family units. In concert with our mission of protecting children, preserving families and strengthening communities, our programs such as the Foster Care program work to give the children in our care the structure and families they need. We presently have an opening for a Foster Care Supervisor for our Foster Care program. As a Foster Care Supervisor, you will oversee the administrative and programmatic oversight of the Foster Care team. This position oversees program staff, along with the foster families and children within the program.  You will report to the Director of Foster Care and will work onsite.

  • Supervise multistage foster care treatment team in areas of intake and ongoing treatment planning for foster youth and foster families.
  • Ensure the diligent efforts made to reach permanency of foster children in placement.
  • Coordinate the work of a diverse team comprised of permanency care managers, clinical and nursing departments to fulfill these goals of permanency, safety and wellbeing for our children in care.
  • Provide regular supervision and complete performance evaluations of program staff as such as Permanency Care Managers, Family Support Workers and Administrative Assistants in program.
  • Work with the Local Department of Social Services to fulfill contracted services.
  • Develop relationships with outside agencies for resources to program.
  • Ensure case records are maintained to the standards of NY OCFS regulations, COA standards and agency standards.
  • Help assess and select prospective foster parents.
  • Help in assessing the strengths and needs of certified foster parents to ensure their success of foster youth.
  • Collaborate with Northern Rivers service departments including finance and human resources.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Participate in supervisory rotation of on call to support staff who respond to after hour emergencies.

Requirements and Education:

  • Requires a master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or related field.
  • At least three to five years of progressively responsible experience.
