Description

As a UPK Teacher, you will be responsible for the development of classroom instructional plans for students. You will also support students' success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Preschool Teacher, Special Education and will work onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow All Agency procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students
  • Provide an inviting learning environment following the Creative Curriculum Foundations, NYS Early Learning Guidelines and other state and local curriculum documents.
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans reflecting the needs of individual students and curriculum goals.
  • Assess student progress be recording daily anecdotal records and by determining expected growth as listed in the curriculum goals.
  • Provide appropriate materials and experience which address the social, physical, and emotional needs of each student.
  • Provide a child centered environment with a balance of open-ended exploration teacher-guided inquiry, structured activities, and sensory-based play; foster children's curiosity, engagement, and reasoning
  • Plan and coordinate the work of the parents, and classroom volunteers in daily activities and special events.
  • Communicate with parents through individual parent conferences, daily notes, journals, phone calls and develop activities which promote home/school relations.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities dealing with curriculum and current early childhood issues by the district OCFS.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records by law, distract and program policy and administrative regulations.
  • Coordinate and model the implementation of classroom Pyramid practices and strategies.
  • Coordinate the safety and well-being of students through the use of established classroom and schoolwide procedures.
  • Follow school and agency procedures for reporting incidents. This includes behavior incident reports (IR) and incidents such as child/sexual abuse, substance abuse, harassment, bullying and violence.
  • Work with other teachers, clinicians, administrators, medical staff and other school staff to provide integrated support, assistance, and treatment to students.

Requirements and Education:

  • CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) OR Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required
  • NYS certification in Early Childhood Education Birth- Grade 2, Nursery Kindergarten & Grades 1-6 or enrollment in a program that leads to NYS Early Childhood Education teacher certification required
