Training and Development Assistant

Big Bend Hospice (BBH) is your “Hometown Hospice” providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 40 years to the Big Bend region. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, and excellence, we are seeking an experienced Training and Development Assistant for our team.

 

The ideal Training and Development Assistant candidate is a highly organized and service-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They will work closely with the Training and Development Manager to ensure training standards are consistently met, while providing essential administrative support for both General and Clinical Orientation programs. With a focus on delivering an exceptional onboarding experience, this individual plays a key role in coordinating and supporting orientation activities from start to finish. This position is perfect for someone eager to contribute to new employee success while gaining valuable experience in training administration and customer service excellence. 

 

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:  
The Training and Development Assistant responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: 

 

  • Create and manage new hire schedules using Microsoft Office
  • Develop and update orientation materials and documentation
  • Maintain attendance records and training completion data
  • Organize and manage employee training files and LMS documentation
  • Create and update employee profiles in the LMS
  • Coordinate detailed itineraries for General and Clinical orientation
  • Manage presenter scheduling and communication
  • Serve as main contact for orientation participants
  • Facilitate communication among new hires, presenters, and departments
  • Handle all orientation setup: room, equipment, and materials
  • Coordinate logistics such as catering and parking
  • Maintain orientation supply inventory
  • Manage cleanup and reset after sessions
  • Deliver outstanding service to new hires during orientation
  • Promptly respond to questions and resolve issues
  • Gather and analyze feedback to enhance orientation
  • Maintain professional, welcoming communication with all stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Work Schedule:  

  • Shifts: Full Time, Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
  • May require occasional early morning or extended hours to accommodate orientation schedules 

Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred
  • Customer Service experience preferred
  • Previous experience in training and development, human resources, or administrative support 
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or another training platform 
  • Event planning experience or project coordination activities 

 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and last-minute requests  Ability to remain calm and troubleshoot/handle patient/family crisis situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams 
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to make decisions based on the expectations of supervisors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software including an EMR system.

 

Requirements: 

  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
