The Mechanical Integrity (MI) Inspector will provide technical support, installation, and repair services to the operation of all plants with the goal of assisting in the optimization, production, efficiency, and reliability of the units while maintaining a safe plant operation. The role involves overseeing mechanical integrity (MI) inspections, including field assessments, deficiency notifications, and the development of detailed inspection plans. The position manages the risk-based mechanical integrity (MI) inspection program, conducting and supervising non-destructive testing (NDT) and other inspection methods crucial for ensuring plant reliability in chemical process industries, particularly in detecting flaws in welds, structures, and equipment. This role will respond to callouts at times to support plant outages and turnarounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct NDT inspection to include penetrant testing (PT), visual testing (VT), positive metal identification (PMI), and ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurements on related structures, components, and welds to ensure their integrity.
- Perform piping hanger and structural support inspections per MI schedule.
- Maintain inspection and test reports (electronic and hard copy formats, as applicable) for mechanical integrity of process piping, vessels, and tanks.
- Supervise 3rd party inspectors during outages and other scheduled assignments.
- Support Maintenance and Turnaround teams with writing and overseeing repair plans and procedures
- Interpret NDT reports to assess equipment condition and identify damage mechanisms as well as evaluate susceptibility and corrosion rates.
- Provide repair recommendations in support of routine maintenance on piping and pressure equipment.
- Perform inspections in accordance with API-510, 570, & 653
- Enter design data, inspection criteria, and inspection frequencies into the mechanical integrity Plant Condition Management Software system (PCMS).
- Build and maintain equipment and components database in PCMS.
- Maintain proficiency with PCMS for inspection scheduling and status reporting.
- Perform QA on job packages performed by company or contractor resources.
