Job Summary

Performs magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Positions patient and performs imaging procedures. Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues.

Job Responsibilities

Screen patient/staff for MRI safety

Inject contrast

Perform QC on equipment including calling service for identified issues

Review and manage patient schedule

Reviews and validates studies in PACS

Consults with radiologist on protocols based on diagnosis Follows MRI specific protocols for injection

Educates patients concerning procedure and post procedure care

Involves others in patient care as required by patient condition

Consults with service as needed

Positions and scan patient per protocol

Requirements

Education:  Graduated from a technical school in Radiology or MRI program.

Required Experience:   2-5 years’ work related experience.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Registered in MRI. BLS certification required

• Serves patients in areas other than patient care.
