Position Overview

This position is responsible for the testing and development of new and refurbished tooling vital to the daily requirements of a custom plastic extrusion production facility.  They will possess the skills necessary to independently trial new extrusion tooling and establish the parameters by which production would follow for future setups.

  • Assists in the development of new business by developing and testing new profiles and provides feedback for additional tuning   
  • Assists in the safe launch process
  • Performs profile setups, start-ups, and tear downs proficiently and accurately
  • Assess processes and tooling to produce parts in specification and at quoted rate.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge or proven ability in the processing of rigid PVC, flexible PVC, Foam PVC, HDPE, ABS, wood fiber and other plastic materials.
  • Works collaboratively to problem solve challenges quickly, and when necessary, provide the proper feedback to the Engineering team.
  • Develops, documents, maintains and reviews computerized setup records and production documentation.
  •  Trains other Team Members to production standards.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Works independently or with team members on projects.
  • Maintains strict development deadlines per customer requirements.
  • Works closely with Lead Technicians, Supervisors, and other staff to achieve production goals
  • Stays up to date on industry trends and advancement in extrusion technology
  • Assists other team members as needed
  • Demonstrates a regular attendance pattern
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications Include

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required
  • 4 years of experience operating a plastic extrusion manufacturing line
  • 4 years of technical knowledge of extrusion processes and equipment
  • Must have experience with pipe and custom profile extrusion.
  • Able to navigate and input data into ERP system, preferably IQMS
  • Proficient with basic arithmetic, algebra and statistical calculations.
  • Proficient with rulers, tape measures, and calipers.
  • Able to read and interpret documents related to quality, packaging, and work orders
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
  • Has strong organizational skills
  • Able to demonstrate a strong ability to problem solve
  • Must possess strong leadership skills
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to interact within all levels of the organization.
  • Lean manufacturing or six sigma experience is a plus.
