Retail Pharmacy Intern

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting the licensed pharmacist in the judgmental aspects of preparing and dispensing medications.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

• Access, input, and retrieve information through the Pharmacy dispensing system to maintain accurate records and efficiently fill prescriptions.
• Administering vaccinations.
• Consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions.
• Record dispensing information in patients medication profiles and maintains accurate notes.
• Provides patient/clients with counseling and education.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy program
• Licensed as a pharmacist intern with an unrestricted license in the state of Iowa
• Prior to administering vaccines, must provide certification of immunization training and basic life support training.

• Proficiency in basic reading, writing, and arithmetic.
• Ability to work with sustained attention and care on routine repetitive tasks.
• Ability to follow instructions with accuracy, precision, and dependability.
• Ability to distinguish routine from judgmental functions
