SUMMARY: Pediatric Faculty clinician to engage clinical Doctor of Chiropractic Students in pediatric patient care in an outpatient clinical setting, providing students with practical clinical experiences while mentoring their development of required competencies and assuring quality patient care and compliance with applicable standards, policies, regulations, and laws.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide and engage chiropractic student interns in the delivery of patient care in the clinical setting.
  2. Provide student Interns with instruction and guidance in all aspects of chiropractic care and clinic operations.
  3. Participate in the development and implementation of clinical educational exercises, activities, and assessments.
  4. Provide direct and indirect supervision of student interns’ participation in patient care and other clinical duties.
  5. Oversee all aspects of patient care delivered in the assigned health center location (s) to ensure the delivery of quality care and compliance with applicable standards, policies, regulations, and laws.
  6. Monitor and manage students’ patient assignments and encounters to provide equitable opportunities to attain qualitative and quantitative requirements.
  7. Be accessible, empathetic, and responsive to the needs of patients and students.
  8. Maintain awareness and compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  9. Provide assessment, feedback, and reporting related to students’ developing clinical competencies, in accordance with established assessment plans and procedures.
  10. Oversee and ensure appropriate clinical and educational documentation.
  11. Establish and maintain effective, appropriate communication with student interns, faculty members, and clinic administrative staff.
  12. Monitor the status of clinic facilities, equipment, and supplies; report issues to supervisors.
  13. Meet periodically with students to discuss and authorize patient management decisions and engage in supplemental clinical educational exercises.
  14. Participate in documentation audits and other quality care initiatives.
  15. Abide by privacy, confidentiality, and security measures, including those associated with HIPAA and FERPA.
  16.  Attend all assigned clinic shifts and hold office hours as necessary.
  17.  Serve on committees, task forces, and other functional teams as assigned or volunteered.
  18. Participate in classroom and practical instruction as scheduled, per qualifications and availability.
  19.  Perform other duties as assigned.
  20.  Attend and participate in clinician and faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and white coat and graduation ceremonies.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Educational/Experience: Candidates must have a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from an accredited program and a minimum of three years of clinical practice experience; five years is preferred. Acupuncture certification or eligibility is preferred but not required. Training and certification or master’s degree in chiropractic Pediatrics is required.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet software, word processing software and electronic health records.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a current, unrestricted license in good standing to practice chiropractic in the states of Missouri. Must not be on Medicare exclusion list. MTAA (acupuncture) certification is preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to demonstrate all skills related to the successful practice of chiropractic.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk to and hear patients, students and staff. The employee may be frequently required to sit when doing paperwork or using a computer. Must frequently stand, walk and use their hands and fingers in order to perform and demonstrate chiropractic techniques. The employee must occasionally lift or assist in moving patients weighing over 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, in order to use a computer to produce communications and reports and to review/interpret x-ray and other diagnostic imaging. Overall, the physical requirements are those consistent with performing the duties of a practicing chiropractor.
