POSITIONS SUPERVISED: All didactic faculty, clinical faculty, and personnel, and support staff in the College of Chiropractic.

                                               

Job Summary: The Dean of the College of Chiropractic (CoC) leadership position is tasked with overseeing the academic and operational functions of the College of Chiropractic, CoC Clinical Operations, and CoC Resident and Fellow Education. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the College of Chiropractic and demonstrates a commitment to enhancing student experience and learning outcomes.  The Dean will ensure the seamless integration of programmatic initiatives as necessary to promote a cohesive educational experience. The Dean of the CoC works collaboratively with campus constituents to recruit, admit, retain, and support a diverse and growing population of Chiropractic students.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the College of Chiropractic, including clinic operations, that align with Logan University’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Provide visionary leadership and direction to faculty, staff, and administrators within the College of Chiropractic, CoC Clinic Operations, CoC Resident, and Fellow Education.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that promotes academic excellence, innovation, and student success.

2. Academic Affairs:

  • Oversee the chiropractic education programs' development, delivery, continuous improvement, and assessment to ensure high-quality academic standards and compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with faculty to promote curriculum development, research initiatives, and continuing education opportunities.
  • Ensure effective faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation processes.
  • Identify new program offerings for the College of Chiropractic.
  • In conjunction with the Dean of Health Sciences and others, provide leadership in the development and/or updating of faculty and staff job descriptions, professional development plans, and evaluation instruments that focus on enhancing student learning, continuous professional growth, scholarship, and support of the institution, and that recognize and reward success in these areas.
  • Support the division chairs in establishing their goals, objectives, assessment activities, and priorities in support of the strategic plan of the institution.
  • Participate in appropriate college and university ceremonies, programs, task forces, committees, accreditation, and program development activities, etc.
  • Prepare reports on College activities as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Provost.

 3. Academic Success:

  •  Coordinate with student services departments to support student retention, engagement, and success.
  • Promote a supportive and inclusive campus environment that addresses the diverse needs of the student body.

4. Administration and Operations:

  • Manage the budget and resources for the College of Chiropractic, ensuring efficient and effective use of funds.
  • Oversee administrative functions, including policy development, compliance, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with other university leaders to ensure alignment and integration of academic programs across the institution.
  • Engage with the Office of Operational Excellence, Planning, and Learning to ensure the successful implementation of strategies and plans that benefit the people and programs within the CoC.

5. External Relations:

  • Represent Logan University and the College of Chiropractic in professional organizations, accreditation bodies, professional licensure related to the CoC, and community engagements.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: A terminal degree in chiropractic (DC) or a related field is required. An advanced degree in education, administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, with a strong background in chiropractic education.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
    • Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of accreditation standards and higher education regulations.
    • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

 

COMPETENCIES:  To perform the job successfully, an individual must have a strong academic background, demonstrated administrative and organizational ability, and excellence in teaching and research. The individual must have strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, be a good listener, and be able to work with individuals and groups effectively. The individual must be able to set goals and objectives, prioritize and plan work activities, and meet deadlines. The individual must be an effective mentor and supervisor. The ability to handle the pressures of balancing the time required to deal with individual problems of faculty, students, and staff while completing the necessary planning and executing programs, reports, and meeting responsibilities is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS: The individual must possess a Doctorate degree, preferably a Doctor of Chiropractic. A minimum of three years of classroom experience and prior progressive chiropractic education responsibilities in administration/training are required. The individual must understand future trends in chiropractic education, research, and practice and be able to apply that understanding to the job responsibilities. The individual must be sensitive to the needs of faculty, students, and staff and must have the ability to be an articulate spokesperson for Logan on a local, state, national, and international level. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.
