We are a mission-driven organization serving individuals with developmental disabilities across mid-Missouri. With a dedicated team of 400 employees, we provide compassionate, person-centered services that support independence, dignity, and quality of life. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Human Resources to lead and strengthen our HR department during a time of growth and innovation.

Position Summary:
The Director of Human Resources will oversee all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, retention, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, training, and organizational development. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong operational mindset and a passion for people and purpose. The ideal candidate will be an approachable leader and a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of HR best practices in healthcare and/or social services environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and values

  • Lead and mentor the HR team to deliver exceptional support across all departments

  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment and retention efforts, including workforce planning

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws

  • Manage employee relations issues with a focus on fairness, transparency, and conflict resolution

  • Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management programs

  • Lead training and development initiatives that support staff growth and leadership development

  • Partner with executive leadership on culture-building and staff engagement

  • Maintain and improve HR systems, records, and data analytics to drive decision-making

  • Lead internal audits and readiness for external surveys or accreditation reviews

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role

  • Experience in healthcare and/or human services strongly preferred

  • Deep knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and best practices

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

  • Ability to manage complex, confidential situations with discretion and professionalism

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
