The Production Mechanic I is responsible for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and maintenance of production equipment. This role is to troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and processing equipment and ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Maintains and repairs industrial production and processing machinery.
- Assists in the repair, installation, and adjustments of industrial machinery such as unscramblers, fillers, cappers, labelers, bundlers, heat tunnels, pulverizers, blenders, powder presses, conveyors, lasers, ink printers, labelers, cartoners and other production equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic switches, valves, and cylinders.
- Diagnoses and repairs gear boxes, bearings, and conveyor system problems.
- Assists in the optimization of line layout to reduce labor and increase line output.
- Assists in the engineering of ergonomic work stations to reduce potential for employee repetitive motion injury.
- Performs routine Preventive Maintenance.
- Assists in the installation of and connects air, electrical, and required energy sources for new production line installation and relocation.
- Responds to work order requests in a timely fashion.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out (LOTOTO) (ensuring machinery is off before performing maintenance or repair), hot work, confined spaces work, use of powered industrial machines, etc.
- Assists in the set-up, diagnosis, and repair high speed filling machines.
- Assists in the troubleshooting of electrical (relay logic PLCs), general building electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
