Position Summary
The Technical Service Engineer I is a hands-on role supporting the technical readiness and commercialization of new cosmetic and Over-the-Counter (OTC) products. This entry-level position works on the production floor to support pilot batches, scale-up runs, and new product launches, helping resolve technical issues at the raw material, formulation, process, and equipment level. This role supports the drafting of protocols and technical reports under the guidance of Senior Technical Services and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure “Right First Time” execution.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Hands-On Floor Support
- Operate compounding, filling, and packaging equipment during pilot and production-scale evaluations.
- Provide technical support to resolve formulation, process, and equipment-related issues.
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers with appropriate documentation.
- Pilot, Scale-Up & Technology Transfer
- Assist in executing technical trials and pilot batches with cross-functional teams.
- Monitor key process parameters and recommend basic adjustments.
- Document trial results to support updates to batch records, BOMs, and setup sheets.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Assist in drafting technical protocols, line trial summaries, and troubleshooting reports.
- Contribute to redlining batch records and updating work instructions.
- Ensure documentation complies with GDP and internal quality standards.
- Process & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in process reviews to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Support improvement projects such as:
- Reducing changeover time
- Increasing product transfer yield
- Minimizing material waste during startups
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Attend project meetings and technical reviews.
- Support execution of line trials and new product launches.
- Coordinate with QA, QC, and Operations to collect data and support recommendations.
- Assist with equipment setups and trial documentation.
