Position Summary
The Technical Service Engineer II is a mid-level, hands-on role responsible for independently planning and executing technical trials, resolving complex process and formulation issues, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing floor. This position plays a key role in scale-up, technology transfer, and the launch of new cosmetic and OTC products. The Engineer II provides technical leadership during pilot runs and production launches, drives root cause investigations, and contributes to robust process design and documentation. This role acts as a subject matter contributor and mentors junior engineers.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Pilot, Scale-Up & Technology Transfer
- Lead the planning and execution of pilot batches and trials with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and verify compounding and filling processes for new formulations or packaging.
- Manage smooth transfer of processes to production by identifying and mitigating risks.
- Technical Troubleshooting & Floor Leadership
- Independently resolve raw material, formulation, or equipment-related issues.
- Lead root cause analysis efforts for line-related deviations or complaints.
- Act as the primary technical contact during launches and scale-up runs.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Draft and finalize protocols, technical reports, and trial summaries.
- Redline and update batch records, setup sheets, and work instructions with minimal oversight.
- Ensure technical documents are audit-ready and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and lead CI projects to enhance yield, reduce waste, and optimize equipment setups.
- Analyze process data for capability and variability improvements.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production on implementing process modifications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Mentorship
- Represent Technical Services in project meetings, design reviews, and risk assessments.
- Align technical plans with QA, QC, Packaging Engineering, and Production.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Engineer I team members.
