IT Support & Infrastructure Specialist

Position Summary
The IT Support & Infrastructure Specialist reports directly to the Manager of IT Infrastructure & User Support. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting the company’s IT infrastructure, including network devices, servers, and end-user systems. The specialist will assist with troubleshooting complex technical issues, performing system upgrades, and ensuring the stability and security of IT operations. Additionally, they will support IT projects, implement infrastructure improvements, and assist with hardware and software deployments. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and end-user devices.
• Monitor and maintain IT systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
• Assist with network troubleshooting, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Support system upgrades, patches, and configurations for hardware and software.
• Perform user account management, including permissions, access control, and security configurations.
• Assist in IT asset management, including tracking and maintaining hardware inventory.
• Provide technical support for production printers (MFPs & label printers) and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Support IT security initiatives, including endpoint protection, access controls, and security awareness training.
• Perform cable management, including terminating Ethernet cables per the T-568B standard.
• Document infrastructure procedures and best practices to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
• Work on IT projects, such as system migrations, hardware deployments, and infrastructure improvements.
• Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines or resolve critical IT issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Provide backup support as needed to second site located in Fort Worth, TX.

Technical Skills Required

• AAS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in IT support or infrastructure-related roles.
• Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, and network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
• Experience with troubleshooting network devices, system administration, and endpoint security.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and IT asset management.
• Basic scripting or automation knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, or similar) is beneficial.

Experience Required

• 2+ years of experience in IT support, infrastructure maintenance, or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting network, server, and hardware-related issues.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience working with users at all levels of an organization, providing clear communication and support.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, depending on work tasks.
• Must be able to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, kneel, turn, crouch, stoop, and perform other physical activities as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including moving and setting up IT equipment.
• Occasional exposure to varying temperatures, loud environments, and operational equipment such as printers and computers.
• Frequent use of a computer screen and repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and mouse use.
• Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, or airborne particles, moving mechanical part, electrical, chemicals, and vibrations.
• Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy machinery, electrical systems, and chemical supplies (under safe working conditions).
• Must be able to work irregular or extended hours, including weekends and nights, when necessary to meet deadlines or provide support.
