Description

The Riverside Magnet School is a Reggio Emilia inspired elementary school that offers young children - prekindergarten through grade 5, an exciting curriculum that focuses on building literacy, numeracy, social, and physical skills. We are anticipating an opening for a (1) full time Behavior Assistant for promoting positive behavioral growth and ensuring students develop and maintain good attendance practices by supporting administrators in providing appropriate behavioral interventions. An ideal candidate is someone who has an ability to motivate students from diverse backgrounds and interests. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong desire to work with students from urban and suburban settings, and possess an understanding of and appreciation for multicultural education. POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavior Assistant will operate under the guidance of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, collaborating closely with building level administration and other student support personnel. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Support scholars in maintaining positive behaviors across the school setting.
  • Provide supervision for in-school suspension.
  • Assist in the management of behavior data through various systems.
  • Assist in obtaining information in regard to behavioral incidents.
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Attend meetings at the school level on an as-needed basis to plan behavioral interventions for students.
  • Collaborate with building leaders to identify additional needs and support the development and implementation of interventions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal or assigned designee.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working with diverse students
  • Experience with de-escalation strategies
  • Experience supporting students needing behavioral shaping/modification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – especially the ability to communicate and collaborate with both students and staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft and Google platforms, PowerSchool, and other data management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work an extended day and/or flexible schedule to meet the needs of the school.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
Qualifications: Minimum of Associates degree or two years college (equaling 60 credits or more). Bachelor’s degree preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in education, community outreach, or human services
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in analyzing data and implementing systems/programs
  • Experience working directly with children and families
