Job Description

As a Welder, you will be responsible for performing MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on metal components and assemblies. You will use a wide range of fabrication tools and equipment to ensure strong, precise welds that meet customer and company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Select equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
  • May operate fabrication equipment such as CNC torch, CNC anglematic, CNC fabripunch, and other component production equipment
  • Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals
  • Clean laser beds and assist the operators and shop as needed.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MIG, TIG, laser welding; Stick welding a plus.
  • Strong understanding of weld symbols, blueprints, and measuring tools.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (welding certification preferred).

Pay Range: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
