How Your Role Fits In
As a Food Safety Manager, you will report directly to the Director of Food Safety and is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all QAFS policies and procedures. The Food Safety Manager provides support, and guidance to Operations and key business partners to ensure; food quality standards, food safety guidelines, legal requirements (as they pertain to food safety) and customer expectations are met. This position will ensure quality of warehouse operations by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice (GMP) systems, validating processes, and providing documentation.

What you’ll do:
Food Safety Program
- Direct responsibility for execution of food safety culture and program across the network including:
- FDA (FSMA)/Dept of Ag regulatory compliance/risk
- USDA/NAMI Meat industry FSIS requirements
- 3rd Party ASI/AIB Audit preparation with facilities
- Food Safety program documentation and SOP adherence
- Quarterly Food Safety Marketing Campaigns & Training
- Leads HACCP Team
- Maintains the Food Product Safety Manual to include but not limited to:
- Product Hold, Non-Conformance, and Mock Recall Processes
- GMP Processes
- Pre-Operational Inspections
- Supplier Control Program
- Inbound/Outbound Product & Trailer Inspection Processes
- Calibration of Equipment and Temperature Storage Practices
- Master Sanitation Schedules
- Allergen & Organic Storage Procedures
- Security & Food Defense Systems
- Glass & Hard Plastic Protocols
- Safety of Water Supply Processes
- Personal Practice Program
- Pest Control Program

Food Safety Training Program
- Oversee and ensure execution of Food Safety training across the network
- Learning Management System usage (WOW University prerequisite programs & quarterly/annual training)
- Food Safety documentation & SOP execution and adherence

What it takes to succeed:

- Accuracy: Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word
- Detail Oriented: Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project of task
- Foresight: Ability to plan several tasks ahead while completing current task
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in food safety & quality, supply chain management, operations management, or similar preferred
- Experience: Previous experience in managing food safety programs is preferred, along with experience in distribution within a cold storage environment.
- Travel: Ability to travel, as needed
