The Grants & Data Strategy Manager will serve as a key contributor to the organization’s strategic plan for resource development, supporting data integrity, grants management and prospect research. This position plays a vital role in sustaining revenue growth by supporting a robust grants pipeline, maintaining clean, actionable data, and providing insights that enhance cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts. The role offers a well-rounded opportunity for a driven professional to contribute meaningfully across multiple areas of nonprofit fundraising and development operations.

 

Essential Duties:

Grant Support (~40%)

  • Research and qualify funding opportunities (foundations, corporations and government).
  • Assemble timelines, draft common narrative sections and collect attachments for proposals.
  • Coordinate with program staff to prepare compelling reports and ensure timely submission.
  • Track award agreements, deliverables and deadlines in the grants matrix.
  • Independently manage select small-to-mid-size grants from proposal to close-out.

Data & Systems (~40%)

  • Serve as day-to-day administrator for the DonorPerfect CRM.
  • Enter and acknowledge all gifts within 48 hours; generate accurate tax receipts.
  • Maintain record integrity through deduping, coding, applying soft credits and ongoing database clean-up.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports for gift officers, KPIs, retention, LYBUNT/SYBUNT tracking and campaign performance.
  • Generate targeted mailing lists for fundraising campaigns, donor strategies and other engagement efforts.

Prospect Research (~15%)

  • Conduct wealth and affinity screenings for individual prospects and donors.
  • Prepare concise, research-based profiles for donor meetings and strategy.
  • Identify candidates for monthly giving and giving circles; flag potential elevations.

Other Responsibilities (~5%)

  • Support appeals, events and donor stewardship touch-points as needed.
  • Stay informed about best practices in nonprofit data systems, grants and analytics.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Team on events, donor communications and digital fundraising.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the implementation of the organization’s fundraising strategy, especially as it relates to data-informed donor engagement and cultivation.
  • Develop and enforce database standards, integrity protocols and quality control measures.
  • Support team planning with insights derived from CRM analysis and prospect trends.

Impact & Engagement:

  • Collaborate with marketing staff to enhance donor engagement through digital and print materials.
  • Help facilitate donor recognition and stewardship efforts, including newsletters, eblasts and reports on impact.

Resource Management:

  • Maintain all donor records, including gifts, pledges, in-kind contributions and donor intent.
  • Generate acknowledgment letters and ensure timely stewardship communications.
  • Produce reports and dashboards that support Advancement and Executive Team decision-making.

Relationships:

  • Internal: Work closely with Advancement, Finance, and Program teams to ensure alignment and timely execution of grant and donor-related tasks.
  • External: Engage with funders, donors, volunteers and community stakeholders to support Advancement goals and share BGCSDC's mission.

Qualifications

Position Requirements (include, but are not limited to):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising operations, grants management or a related nonprofit role.
  • Proficiency with DonorPerfect (preferred) or similar donor databases.
  • Strong data skills, including Excel, with the ability to turn numbers into insights.
  • Proficient with Zoom, MS Office and other applicable software.
  • Excellent written communication skills; able to synthesize complex information clearly.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven, and capable of handling confidential information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, Board members, grantors, donors, volunteers, community groups and other constituents.
  • Occasional evenings/weekends required for events.
  • Background screening required.
