The Role

The Director of Leadership Programs is responsible for the implementation and ongoing improvement of the DRC’s Leadership Dallas and Leadership Dallas Alumni leadership programs. This individual will engage the business community by supporting the development of leaders to help meet the Dallas Region’s needs for a qualified workforce. This employee supports all affiliates of the Chamber as required. The employee’s primary duty is the performance of non-manual work directly related to the business operations of the Chamber and its affiliates. This position must exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance including (i) leadership program implementation and (ii) program member recruitment. Additionally, this position requires skills involving community engagement and event management.

 

Reporting Structure

This individual will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Talent Strategies and assist with overall operations of this team.

Key Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The duties and responsibilities include the following, though other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Implement one or more of the Chamber’s key leadership development programs, with specific oversight of Leadership Dallas and Leadership Dallas Alumni.
  • As needed, support the management of other leadership programs, which may include Young Professionals and Lead YP.
  • Develop, organize, and implement the program’s annual program of work, including development of events and volunteer opportunities, membership recruitment and retention tactics, and marketing efforts to prospective members and the community at large.
  • Coordinate program events by working with the Chamber event team to determine logistics including venue locations, food and beverage needs, sponsorships, speaker confirmations, agenda, set-up and supply needs, marketing and registration process. The Director solicits and oversees staff volunteers for program events.
  • Actively interact with program Boards and committees to ensure assigned work is being done, resources are being provided when needed, and content is being overseen. This could include after-hour meetings, events, and conference calls.
  • Recruit new participants to apply for program Board and supports Committee Chairs in recruiting new members. Oversees selection process of program Board and onboarding new committee members.
  • Work with organization to recruit new members to apply for program, including through the preparation of application materials, applicant data collection, and oversight of selection process and committee.
  • Work with planning committees and advisory committees to prepare and offer meaningful leadership development in programming.
  • Oversees and manages budget for the programs. Provides reports to volunteers and SVP of Talent Strategies about status.
  • Implement regular meetings with, surveys of, and open communication with volunteers and companies involved in programs. Act as a facilitator when problems arise, either with program members or volunteers, with the ability to resolve situations effectively and efficiently.
  • Communicate with various Chamber team members about activities of the programs. Closely work with the Membership team to recruit non-member companies active in leadership programs to become Chamber members.
  • Provide staff support for reports given to the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
  • Utilize the Chamber’s database to track data for the programs.
  • Assist with the creation of program materials, marketing materials and updating of the program's website.
  • Market programs and events through responsibilities over website, e-newsletters, social media outlets, etc. Both internal and external outlets are utilized.
  • Represent Chamber at various events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Professional and comprehensive experience in an applicable field and/or with an organization that is similar in mission and activities to the DRC.
