Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current valid RN license with the state of Idaho.
Proof of completion of the following courses is required either at time of hire, or within the time frame designated:
- BLS at the time of hire or within 14 days of employment
- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles and Practice prior to completion of labor orientation or as soon as possible, or current RNC-EFM. Renew every 2 years or maintain EFM.
- NRP within 6 months of hireÂ
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
- STABLE within 6 months of hire
- Complete all required Labor and Maternal Newborn orientation competencies prior to coming off orientation, and thereafter attend biannual skills lab to maintain competency. Â
- Complete QMP-OB, Baby Catching, & Scrub competencies within 6 months
 Experience: Previous labor and/or postpartum experience preferred. Quality reporting experience and previous experience with clinical processes and patient care a major plus.
Equipment/Technology:Â Able to use I.V. pumps, radiant warmer, fetal monitoring devices, leg compression devices, PCA pump and respiratory equipment, etc. Use of computers and Electronic Health Record software is required. Experience with spreadsheet and database applications like Excel, Business Objects, SQL. Experience with clinical operations, billing and reporting requirements also preferred, but not required.
Language/Communication:Â Excellent communication skills and leadership capability. Medical record review/abstraction knowledge in multiple specialties. Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, meeting facilitation, presentation, written, listening, and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and report trends in data that could indicate a process/procedure change needs to take place. Use of problem solving and planning skills with the Clinical Nurse Reporting Supervisor, to improve the quality metrics for the hospital(s). Dynamic presentation skills and ability to develop clear and presentable documentation required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply and understand concepts such as fractions, percentages, graphs, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate drug dosages.     Â
Mental Capabilities: Possess critical thinking and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize patient care for safety and best optimal outcome. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Â
