WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON
- Collect and properly store hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials generated in the manufacturing process.
- Treat wastes according to treatment by generator (TBG) regulations, procedures and equipment operating manuals. Keep all necessary records and logs in complete and legible form.
- Follow company policies and government regulations to ensure proper waste disposal.
- Label and document waste containers accurately.
- Assist in the transportation of waste to the designated disposal areas.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
- Perform regular checks on waste storage areas to ensure proper segregation and containment.
- Maintain records of waste management activities, including manifests and disposal logs.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous materials and waste.
- Assist in the identification and classification of waste according to regulatory standards.
- Respond to emergency situations related to chemical spills or waste-related incidents.
- Assist in tracking and maintaining inventory levels of waste containers and disposal materials.
- Ensure that proper documentation and paperwork are completed for waste removal and disposal.
- Participate in efforts to minimize waste generation through recycling and process improvements.
- Help identify opportunities to improve waste management processes for greater efficiency and sustainability.
- Complete waste disposal reports and maintain up-to-date records for auditing purposes.
- Report any deviations from safety or environmental protocols to supervisors promptly.
- Participate in ongoing safety and compliance training related to hazardous materials and waste management.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest regulations and best practices in waste management for chemical manufacturing.
- Will maintain RCRA certification annually.
- Uphold all MLI policies and “MLI Code of Conduct.”
- Strict compliance with Environmental and Safety regulations.
- Compliance and individual accountability with the MLI Quality System and ISO Registration is required. It is the employee’s commitment to ensure that the Company’s actual practices and procedures are exercised as directed.
- Uphold the Manufacturing Attendance Policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support and sustain a high performing team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (some post-secondary education or certification in environmental science, waste management, or a related field is preferred).
- Knowledge of waste management practices and hazardous material handling.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and safety standards (OSHA, EPA).
- Ability to operate basic equipment and machinery related to waste handling (e.g., forklifts, waste containers).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (including exposure to chemicals).
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously to meet established deadlines.
- Work as a team and/or independently.
- Perform tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in waste management, environmental health and safety, or chemical manufacturing is a plus.

Summary pay range: $22-$33/hour

WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are generally performed indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions, in a 24-hour per day, seven days per week manufacturing environment. Handling and working with hazardous materials and chemical manufacturing equipment is routine. The employee may work in the presence of fumes or airborne particles, hot, toxic or corrosive chemicals, water, liquids and electrical equipment. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. When working in the presence of these hazards, the employee is expected to follow company safety rules and use proper personal protection such as: hardhat, respirator, hearing protection, protective clothing, safety glasses, safety footwear, etc. MLI is an alcohol and drug free workplace. Employees will work in a covered Process Safety Management (PSM) environment containing threshold quantities of flammable liquids and/or gasses that have a potential for fire or explosion. Employees working in this environment are required to be free from devices that are not considered intrinsically safe. Examples of devices that may not be intrinsically safe include Insulin Pumps, Pacemakers, Pain Management devices, etc.
