Position Summary  

The Public Services and Outreach Coordinator oversees the circulation of library materials to students, faculty, and broader community, provides reference services, and promotes the library’s collection through lectures, exhibits, and social media.  
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Oversee and manage the operations of the circulation department. 

  • Oversee reference services to the academic, scholarly, and local community in person and from email or website chat.  

  • Develop outreach activities for the library, including exhibits, programming, social media presence, and website content. 

  • Oversee operations for inter- and intra-library loan between the three US campuses. 

  • Create library exhibits. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education 
 

  • Required: Master’s degree in library and information science or related field 

Experience 
 

  • Required: Two years library and one year of reference service including research assistance.  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities  
 

  • Knowledge of Judaism 

  • Advanced research and language skills, particularly Hebrew, and including at least one modern research language (Romance and/or Germanic) 

  • Advanced knowledge of Jewish history, Jewish culture, and Rabbinic literature 

  • Photography and strong exhibit staging skills preferred 

  • Web and print design 

Technology 
 

  • Microsoft Office 365 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook 

  • Library databases - Worldcat preferred/OCLC/WMS 

  • Webdesign Software
