Position Summary:
The Assistant Fitness Manager supports the Fitness Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the fitness department, managing personal trainers, ensuring high standards of service, and promoting a positive and results-driven environment. This leadership role balances administrative tasks with direct member engagement and staff supervision, helping to drive member retention and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in managing the daily operations of the fitness department, including staffing, scheduling, and compliance with company policies.

Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of personal trainers and fitness staff.

Monitor trainer performance and productivity, providing coaching and feedback as needed.

Promote and sell personal training packages to help members achieve their fitness goals.

Deliver high-quality personal training sessions and small group training as needed.

Ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of fitness equipment.

Address member concerns and inquiries in a professional, timely manner.

Collaborate with the Fitness Manager to set and achieve department revenue targets.

Organize fitness events, challenges, and educational workshops to boost engagement.

Assist in tracking KPIs, sales goals, and departmental performance metrics.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required, college degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field preferred.

Nationally recognized personal training certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA) required.

CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.

2+ years of personal training experience; prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and club management software (e.g., MindBody, Club OS, ABC Fitness, etc.).

Passion for health and fitness, with a positive and team-oriented attitude.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.

Ability to stand, walk, and be physically active for extended periods.

Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
