Position Summary:
The Department of Education School and Career Counselor will provide academic support and will be a community liaison to enrolled students and families of Wilton Rancheria. The Education Counselor plays an essential role focused on the academic, and social emotional learning of Pre-K through 12th grade students. The Counselor drives the highest quality pedagogy for learners through creative and supportive programming and resources that assist tribal families with informed decision making for their children that will have a multi-generational impact. The Counselor will prioritize the academic, special education, and social emotional learning. The Counselor will also service and support inclusive, rigorous, and diverse learning experiences for all students regardless of age and time in school.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates and administers various Department of Education programs
- Design, plan, and implement high-quality, youth-centered programs that align with Boys and Girls Club of America and DOE mission and best practices.
- Assists in the planning, organization, supervision, implementation, and evaluation of Dept. of Ed. programming supporting students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Design, plan, and implement high-quality, programs that align with student academic success
- Provides career counseling and referrals to assist students with the career development process, including clarifying objectives and obtaining occupational information
- Provides career planning assistance through appointments with individuals, online assistance, and regularly scheduled group workshops
- Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with students, employers, and academic institutions
- Plans and implements career exploration events
- Establishes office policies and procedures, prepares regular reports, and collects and analyzes research data relevant to planning and placement
- Case Management and Recommendations
- Pedagogy and programmatic leadership
- Works with teaching staff to establish an instructional learning environment for students by accommodating or modifying instructional activities to meet the students’ individual goals
- Performs educational and career assessments in accordance with California State Standards, school programs, and field best practices
- Analyzes individual student data on internal and external assessments to identify support opportunities, track goals, and report trends
- Monitors action plans to address student data and performance as it relates to all academic content areas
- Provides observation and feedback on the implementation of the tutoring and counseling academic program
- Conducts audits of tutoring and counseling programs to ensure goals and benchmarks are met or exceeded
- Collaborates with colleagues to design long-term plans for educational programs
- Supervise and manage staff
- Administers various tasks and assignments as directed by the Department of Education. Leadership.
