POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Tribal Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in the organization's financial operations, providing support in various areas of finance, including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting. This position requires a meticulous individual with strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development of organization wide annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts. Work closely with the department heads to gather relevant data, perform variance analysis, and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Conduct financial analysis to evaluate business performance, identify trends, and assess risks and opportunities. Prepare financial models and scenarios to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor and control costs to optimize resource allocation and improve profitability. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend actions to achieve financial objectives.
  • Maintain and update financial systems and databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility. Provide budget system training and support for users on financial software applications as needed.
  • Assist in managing cash flow projections and monitoring liquidity to support operational needs and financial stability. Recommend cash management strategies to optimize cash positions and minimize financial risks.
  • Ensure alignment with the various Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding.
  • Present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders in written, visual, and verbal formats.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial data, personnel information, and sensitive organizational matters. Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable privacy regulations when handling confidential and proprietary information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KOWLEGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including use of pivot tables, formulas, and charts.
  • Ability to interpret and apply financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic and evolving organizational environment.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required; Master’s Degree, and CPA or CFA certification are preferred.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably in a corporate or governmental environment, is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in financial analysis tools and software, such as Excel, Word, Sage Intacct, and Martus.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, safe driving record and be insurable under the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy; required.
  • Must pass background security check prior to employment.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug test as requested over the course of employment.
  • Must be able to travel to attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Must be able to work evening hours and weekends as needed.
