Summary: Under the direction of the Membership Services Supervisor, the Kids Club Attendant provides inviting, fun, safe, and inclusive childcare experiences while ensuring all programming is age-appropriate and nurtures a healthy way of life. Helps to foster relationships and social growth with affective communication to parents and caregivers under the guidelines of the Park District. The Kids Club Attendant contributes to the overall success of Park Fitness by embodying the mission, vision, and values of the Park District of Highland Park to provide welcoming, caring, and extraordinary experiences.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


Essential Job Duties:
Includes, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Responsible for the care, hygiene, learning, variety of activities and redirection of children
•Actively engage with children while encouraging free play.
•Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Kids Club Center and all games and toys.
•Engage with current and prospective families and be responsive to their needs.
•Understand responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
•Keep management informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children.
•Able to work effectively with a diverse population.
•Inspect all service equipment and supplies. Ensure adequate number of supplies are in stock.
•Report recommendations for supply and equipment purchase to supervisor.
•Assist emergency situations by completing and understanding the Emergency Action Plan for Park Fitness.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Current high school student, graduate, or equivalent; or up to one‐month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Skills/Abilities: 
•Passion to work with children ages 6 months to 10 years.
•Knowledge of age appropriate social and play programming.
•Ability to work multiple shifts 8am – 11 am, Monday – Saturday and 4 – 7 pm Monday – Thursday.
•Ability to adjust schedule when needed.
•CPR certified or have an ability to obtain certification through Park District offerings.


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: American Red Cross CPR/AED certification


Wage Range: $15.20-$16.00 per hour


Classification: Part-Time, non-exempt


Schedule: Able to work a flexible schedule with ability to work nights and weekends as required

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to cool to warm temperatures with some slightly disagreeable features. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
