Position Summary

The Director of Operations leads Five-Star AudioVisual’s operations at a luxury hotel or resort property, serving as a strategic partner to clients, hotel teams, and event professionals. This role is responsible for ensuring flawless event execution, maintaining high technical standards, and delivering service that exceeds client expectations.

The Director of Operations plays a key leadership role—overseeing daily operations, guiding the on-site team, managing resources, and ensuring Five-Star’s commitment to quality, hospitality, and innovation is upheld in every detail.

The Director of Operations will:

  • Lead daily operations and oversee all audiovisual services for meetings, conferences, and special events within a luxury hotel or resort environment

  • Partner closely with hotel leadership to ensure seamless integration with property standards and service culture

  • Manage, mentor, and develop on-site technical and production teams

  • Ensure proper equipment maintenance, inventory management, and operational efficiency

  • Oversee event setup, execution, and strike, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and hotel teams, providing solutions that anticipate needs and elevate experiences

  • Monitor financial performance, cost control, and resource allocation to achieve profitability goals

  • Uphold Five-Star’s service and safety standards across all aspects of operations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in operations or event management, ideally within the audiovisual or luxury hospitality industry

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop others

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively

  • High technical aptitude with a deep understanding of AV production workflows and client expectations

  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills

  • Financial acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and cost control

  • Ability to collaborate across departments and maintain strong partnerships with clients and hotel teams

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to solving challenges


Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 4 years of operational or management experience in the audiovisual, technology, or hospitality industry

  • Demonstrated success managing technical teams and executing complex events

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills


Technical Knowledge

  • Audio: Microphones, speakers, sound systems, channel mixers, and related components

  • Video: LCD, LED, projectors, screens, and monitors

  • Lighting: Décor and stage lighting, traditional and intelligent fixtures, and basic lighting kits

  • Computers: Proficient in both PC and Mac environments with advanced software knowledge
