Are you an experienced RN looking to combine direct patient care with the opportunity to shape quality standards and compliance practices? At York County Prison, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring safe, high-quality healthcare delivery while still maintaining hands-on connection with patients. This position is ideal for an RN who thrives on autonomy, enjoys collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and is eager to grow their career in quality improvement, compliance, and clinical leadership.
You’ll oversee Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and compliance initiatives, serve as a clinical mentor to nursing staff, and partner closely with both facility leadership and healthcare teams to improve outcomes for an underserved population. Unlike traditional hospital settings, this role offers a predictable schedule, manageable patient ratios, and the chance to practice nursing in a mission-driven environment where your work directly impacts community health and safety.
How YOU can Make an Impact:
-
Provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans according to established policies and procedures.Â
-
Provide care for patients with chronic conditions, acute illnesses, and mental health issues, coordinating with other healthcare providers as necessary.Â
-
Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and local healthcare regulations, as well as facility-specific policies.Â
-
Ensure proper documentation and reporting of medical treatments, interventions, and patient outcomes, including maintaining detailed medical records for audits and compliance reviews.Â
-
Work closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, mental health professionals, and correctional officers, to provide comprehensive care to inmates.Â
-
Communicate effectively with patients, their families (as needed), and correctional facility staff regarding treatment plans, health education, and health-related concerns.Â
-
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to other nursing staff, providing guidance and support on clinical practices, protocols, and emergency response procedures.Â
-
Follow established policies and procedures, including those related to infection control, safety protocols, and medication administration.Â
-
Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the facility’s healthcare needs.Â
What we Ask of YOU:
-
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment.Â
