The Physician provides comprehensive medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including diagnoses and treatment of patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The Physician will collaborate with Nurses and other healthcare staff to develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions, and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. The Physician will also maintain accurate medical records and adhere to all healthcare regulations and facility policies.Â

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care to incarcerated individuals.

Conduct thorough medical assessments and H&Ps, to diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans for patients.

Collaborate with Psychiatric/Mental Health staff to provide care to Psychiatric patients, to ensure best outcomes for dual-diagnosis patients.Â

Respond to and manage medical emergencies, including trauma, psychiatric crises, and other urgent health needs.

Provide leadership in emergency medical responses.Â

Educate patients on managing chronic conditions, preventing health issues, and understanding treatment plans.

Advocate for inmate health needs and contribute to a supportive environment for all individuals in care.Â

Document promptly and properly.

Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and clinical outcomes.

Adhere to infection control, safety, and security protocols while maintaining high standards of care within the correctional environment.Â

Serve as a medical leader, supporting and mentoring other healthcare providers. Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement.

Provide on-call services as needed, including after-hours and weekend care, to ensure continuity of care and address urgent needs.Â

Work alongside correctional officers and facility leadership to ensure healthcare needs of inmates are met safety and securely.Â

Uphold the highest ethical standards, ensuring that all practices comply with federal, state, local, and facility regulations.

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and follow all legal and ethical guidelines in healthcare delivery.Â

What we Ask of YOU:
-
A current, valid, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Washington (MD or DO).Â
-
Hold a valid DEA Registration, or be willing to obtain DEA Registration and all local permits required to order controlled substances.
-
Board Certification is highly desired.
-
2-4Â years of clinical practice, and 1-2 years in correctional or underserved setting preferred; clinical rotations count as clinical practice.Â
-
Experience in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing healthcare services in managed care or correctional setting is highly preferred.Â
-
Active CPR/BLS certificate required prior to Start Date (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).Â
