About the Opportunity

The Salvation Army is hiring Seasonal FULL-TIME positions for our Angel Tree Christmas program this year. There are 4 coordinator positions to start in early October and run through December 22nd, with some evening and weekend work required. These positions are in Charlotte, NC.

Senior Coordinator

  • Must have a take-charge personality and management skills, be a problem solver, be organized
  • Strong communication/people skills, enjoy working with people
  • Strong computer skills - proficient in Word and Excel and familiar with database programs
  • Be able to handle stress and manage various tasks at one time
  • Supervises staff in absence of the Christmas Services Manager
  • Assist the Christmas Services Manager with the organization and completion of daily tasks
  • Help qualify and interview clients and input their info during registration
  • Other duties as assigned throughout the season

Volunteer Coordinator

  • Strong computer skills - proficient in Word and Excel and familiar with database programs
  • Be able to handle stress and manage various tasks/groups at one time
  • Outgoing personality is a MUST, comfortable speaking to large groups
  • Communicate with and schedule all volunteers and volunteer groups
  • Follow up with groups to confirm their attendance and all the details of their volunteer event
  • Greet volunteers, get them signed in to CERVIS and train/orient them for volunteer activities
  • Oversee all volunteers during their visit to the Christmas Center and make sure they are comfortable and productive in their tasks
  • Help interview clients and input their info during registration
  • Other duties as assigned throughout the season

 Donor Coordinator

  • Strong computer skills - proficient in Word and Excel and familiar with database programs
  • Communicate with donors about adopting Angels and Silver Bells
  • Handle assigning of Angels to donors in the system
  • Coordinate/manage the preparation of Angel orders for donors
  • Communicate and coordinate the pick-up of Angel orders with donors
  • Work with Receptionist at Area Command to coordinate pick up of large angel orders by SA
  • Manage check-in process for special handling items to make sure they are marked in the system
  • Manage placement/organization of special handling items in their respective bays
  • Help qualify and interview clients and input their info into our system during registration
  • Other duties as assigned throughout the season

Bi-Lingual Communication Coordinator

  • MUST be fluent in Spanish
  • Comfortable working with the public
  • Responsible for facilitating communication with our Hispanic clients and the Hispanic community
  • Assist with translation of documents and outgoing communication to the public
  • Assist with answering the phone and returning phone calls to Spanish speaking clients
  • Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with greeting, training, overseeing volunteers, getting them signed in
  • Help qualify and interview clients and input their info into our system during registration
  • Other duties as assigned throughout the season

Toyland Coordinator

  • Must be organized, retail experience helpful
  • Requires physical labor to manage toy inventory
  • Set up Toyland in an organized fashion so that toys are easy to identify and pull for filling bags
  • Greet volunteers to Toyland and train them in the filling of angel bags
  • Keep shelves stocked, manage all toy inventory
  • Count and track all toys that are donated for the Magical Toy Drive
  • Count all other toy donations and track in-kind donations separately for each individual toy drive (Corvette toy drive, WCCB stuff the truck, Magical Toy Drive, etc.)
  • Help qualify and interview clients and input their info into our system during registration.
  • Other duties as assigned throughout the season

 

Qualifications

Materials and Equipment

Angel Tree supplies, Cell Phone, Laptop Computer, Wireless Printer, Walkie Talkies, Smart Device (I-Pad, NotePad)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong Computer Skills

Must be comfortable using Smart Phone, Wireless laptop devices and wireless printers

Excellent communication skills

Must be a self-starter, able to take direction and work independently to meet deadlines.

Must be a team player and able to manage various tasks at a time.

Excellent interpersonal skills, well organized, and dependable.

Ability to greet guests, such as volunteers and partners

Ability to meet deadlines and follow up with assignments

Ability to explain Angel Tree procedures to volunteers

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and philosophy

Ability to read and communicate the English language

Able to relate to diverse communities.

Bi-Lingual in Spanish a plus

 

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED

AND

Two years of experience dealing with the public in a customer service-type position

OR

Any equivalent demonstration of training or experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements, full-time daily with some evening and weekend work.

Ability to exert the physical energy required for unloading, loading, lifting, and moving boxes and bags full of toys.

Ability to help set up and take down tables, chairs, dividers as needed.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, lifting, and climbing.

Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Work is performed in a warehouse setting where there may be no heat or AC, will most likely have concrete floors, and may be some physical discomfort.
