ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

This position is responsible for:

Directs, plans, coordinates, evaluates and monitors the day-to-day operations of all program activities generated from the Social Services Department in Oklahoma County in accordance with the stated purpose and within policy guidelines; develops, implements, and evaluates program operations and services; supervises all program staff and ensures work is in compliance with established policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations; prepares and monitors program expenditures in compliance with program budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities (60%)

Supervises and monitors the day-to-day activities of the program including housing, life skill classes, transportation, financial assistance, food/clothing/furniture assistance, and employment assistance, educational and vocational assistance; ensures that operations run smoothly and in compliance with established procedures.

Plans, directs, and supervises the work of assigned staff; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures; conducts performance evaluations and provides salary and hiring/firing recommendations.

Supervises client database and ensures accuracy and timeliness of client information. 

Reviews, monitors, and interprets all functions of the social services programs for compliance and adherence to policies and procedures; implements and monitors additional policies and procedures for these operations and ensures compliance to the same which includes any legal requirements, standards, and regulations.

Maintains awareness of the program requirements necessary to maintain existing funding; ensures that measurable outcomes correspond with requirements and adjusts case management processes as necessary.

Analyzes statistical information and case outcomes to ensure that recidivism is not occurring on a regular basis.

Ensures employees are following case management principles including completing assessments, follow ups, and referring to other community agencies to increase the client’s self-sufficiency.

Stays up to date on community resources and ensures employees are aware of resources available to assist clients.

Provides information/training on resources available to clients to employees. 

Meets regularly with employees to discuss and evaluate client progress; keeps up to date records documenting client’s progress. 

Prepares and monitors reviews, monitors and approves expenditures to ensure compliance with budget constraints.

 Ensure adequate food and supplies, adequate coverage/support in the food pantry, reporting on grants and other funding, and seeks out opportunities for additional support. 

Liaison Responsibilities (10%)

Attends meetings and other community involvements, which are pertinent to the promotion and support of The Salvation Army and enhancing its programs and projects.

Serves as a staff representative to the Advisory Board on behalf of the Social Services Department.

Seeks out opportunities to promote The Salvation Army and ways to collaborate with community partners

Attends community meetings with representatives of other agencies to educate them about the program, make client referrals and maintain awareness of client’s progress. 

Administrative Responsibilities (25%)

Prepares and maintains statistical records on all services provided; compiles and prepares monthly statistical reports; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.

Maintains the corps volunteer list in a current state with all pertinent information.

Research funding opportunities for social services programs; develops local funding proposals; assists with preparing, writing, and submit funding proposals.

Ensures all program goals and milestones are met.   

Prepares and maintains up to date records on all funding programs and grants; completes the required report for each funding program and grant; and fulfills any other obligations associated with the funding or grant.  

Other Responsibilities (5%):

Travels locally, as needed, to represent The Salvation Army to support and enhance all social service programs and projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, business administration, or related field, and three years progressively responsible experience coordinating and supervising social services programs, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity

OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

Valid State Driver's License

Physical Requirements:

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a shelter environment where there may be exposure to physical health risks and unsanitary conditions.  Work involves driving a vehicle to off-site meetings where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
