A Welder/Fitter is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components based on technical specifications and blueprints. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and adherence to safety standards to ensure the quality and durability of the final product.
Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Welding
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine project requirements.
- Use various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, or Flux-Cored Arc Welding to join, repair, or fabricate metal parts.
- Fit and assemble metal components to meet specified tolerances and alignments.

Metal Preparation & Cutting
- Cut, bend, and shape metal using tools such as grinders, plasma cutters, and torches.
- Prepare surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and positioning materials.

Quality Assurance
- Inspect finished welds and fabrications for accuracy, strength, and quality.
- Perform necessary adjustments or rework to ensure compliance with specifications.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate welding machines, hand tools, and heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.

Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to workplace safety standards, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow company and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Collaboration & Reporting
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
- Document work progress and report any issues or discrepancies to management.
