Minimum of 16 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior experience working with children or in a related field preferred
Ability to work well with children of various ages and abilities
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks
Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule
Capable of working as a team player
Ability to maintain safe environment
Obtain ASHI (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment (training is provided)
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a timeÂ
Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, and walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff and parentsÂ
Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with childrenÂ
Performance may be measured by:
The safety of all children in the assigned area
The feedback from participants, parents, and Y leadership
The pleasant environment and smooth operation of the Kids Zone program
