Salary Range:            $20.00 Hourly

Status:                         Full Time; Regular; Non-Exempt

Location:                    381 Rockaway Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11212

Days/Hours:               4:00 PM to 12:00 AM Shift

 

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Residential Aide Shift Supervisor or Team Lead, the Residential Aide is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for participants, staff, and guests.

Mission, Culture and Fit:

The ideal candidate must have experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring disorders. Additionally, they must be able to effectively engage with individuals impacted by the legal system and those with a history of homelessness. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment is essential.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate documentation of participant care, including incident reports, and promptly communicate any changes in condition to the appropriate staff
  • Assist with daily operational tasks to support the smooth functioning of the facility, including meal preparation, supply management, and ensuring adherence to program rules and regulations
  • Accurately complete shift exchanges by verifying participant check-ins and check-outs within the facility
  • Notify a supervisor immediately when there is a need to involve NYPD, FDNY, and/or EMS
  • Conduct routine facility walkthroughs to identify irregularities and ensure corrective actions are taken to address any issues
  • Monitor participants’ behavior and physical condition, and report any changes or concerns to appropriate staff
  • Submit all incident reports for review and promptly notify the supervisor to ensure entry into Case Worthy within 24 hours
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and participate in at least one staff meeting per month
  • Conduct and assist with drug screenings, ensuring all procedures are accurately followed and documented
  • Provide support to Case Managers, Housing Specialists, Entitlement Specialists, Senior Case Managers, and the Program Director of Social Services as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

 

Organizational Structure:

            REPORTS TO: Residential Aide Shift Supervisor

 

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, Fire Guard, and Narcan is a plus
  • Experience working in an institutional setting, such as shelters, residential facilities, and/or providing security services
  • Experience working with homeless individuals and populations affected by substance abuse and mental health challenges
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the daily operations of MOCJ Emergency Transitional Housing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Basic computer skills required
  • CASAC-T or CASAC is a plus

 

Travel Requirements:

This position requires weekly on-site availability and travel to various Fortune housing and program locations as needed.
