NIKA is hiring for a temporary General Maintenance Worker for a base operations support services contract at the US Coast Guard Base in Kodiak, AK!

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- General maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
- Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Must have the skill and knowledge to use all hand and power tools, test equipment and shop machines, aerial booms, and shop machines utilized by the craft.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in maintaining and repairing exterior and interior electrical wiring and components.
- All appropriate safety practices for working with hand and power tools.
- Communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
- Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
- Must maintain positive standing with Teamsters Union.
