Job Description
Job Title: Bilingual Family Relational Therapist
Supervisor: Director of Clinical Services
Job Summary: The Bilingual Family Relational Therapist provides individual, family and group therapy using Center curriculum to children and families referred by the Child Protection Team. This position will clinically assess clients on an ongoing basis and generate treatment plans based on assessment. The Family Relational Therapist must be able to work within a multidisciplinary team setting and provide case management to high-risk families as needed. This position utilizes the Neurosequential Model when working with all clients. The Center will provide training for Phase I certification within the Neurosequential Model framework.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a behavioral science
- Clinical license to include LMSW, LCSW, LPC-I or LPC
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience including case management services for child victims of sexual and physical abuse, child protection, crisis support and counseling services
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Experience working with children and families who are in high-risk environments
- Experience providing clinical case management services
- Experience providing therapeutic parenting services to include parent education, parent support and group therapy services
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, especially in complex and challenging environments
- Ability to problem solve and think creatively
- Ability to work with diverse groups/disciplines in stressful situations
- Ability to work effectively with clients in their home, and at CPS locations
- Ability to work with volunteers and interns
- Ability to collect and report child abuse case information
Job Tasks:
- Provides family, individual and group therapy services for children and families with high-risk needs
- Completes Phase I Training in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, and develops knowledge and skills in the DSM-5, and subsequent updated versions, to assist in guiding assessment and treatment planning
- Assess’ client’s level of developmental, cognitive and emotional functioning
- Provides clients with clinical assessment and evaluation to inform appropriate clinical treatment goals and intervention strategies
- Completes treatment planning process, to include clear treatment objectives, goals and intervention strategies to be reviewed with the Clinical Supervisor during treatment plan reviews
- Completes in-depth clinical and psychosocial assessments with children and non-offending caregivers
- Provides follow-up services for families needing information/intervention related to high-risk needs
- Provides in-home family therapy, case management and therapeutic support services for children and their non-offending caregivers
- Assess’ protective caregiver’s mental health, protectiveness, risk factors, and social service needs
- Provides mental health assessments as needed and refers to psychiatric services as indicated
- Provides sessions at co-locations, in homes, and at CPS offices as needed
- Completes clinical intake for urgent clients referred for clinical services to include explanation of informed consent, release of information, client rights and completion of thorough Initial Clinical Assessment
- Administers clinical assessment tools for purposes of assessment
- Coordinates information between multidisciplinary team members, mental health providers and investigators/caseworkers
- Works collaboratively with the Child Protection Team in the provision of services to clients
- Accompanies clients as needed for support in pursuing needed services
- Provides direct support via program coverage and volunteer support, as needed
- Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the mission, core values and vision of the organization and the children’s advocacy model
- Attends regular staff meetings and other community meetings as assigned
- Attends weekly supervision with the Clinical Supervisor to review program progress and upcoming objectives
- Upholds ethical guidelines and professional standards, including following the rules and regulations outlined by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners
- Maintains professional licensure by completing the required number of Continuing Education Credits and renewing license on time
- Notifies supervisor if any disruption to licensure occurs or if any investigation is initiated by the licensee’s applicable professional board
- Performs other duties as assigned
