Job Description
Job Title: Bilingual Therapist
Supervisor: Director of Clinical Services
Summary: The Bilingual Therapist provides individual, family and group therapy to children and families referred by the Child Protection Team. This position is responsible for ongoing clinical assessment and treatment planning for clients on caseload. The therapist works within a multidisciplinary team setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in behavioral science
• Clinical license to include LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or LPC Associate
• Minimum of one-year experience providing clinical services to children and families, including individual, family, and group counseling support and therapeutic services
• Experience working with children and families who are in high-risk environments
• Experience providing clinical case management services
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, especially in complex and challenging environments
• Ability to problem solve and think creatively
• Ability to work with diverse groups/disciplines in stressful situations
• Ability to utilize feedback in a constructive manner
• Bilingual English/Spanish required
Job Tasks:
1. Provides individual, group, and family therapy services for children and families with high-risk needs
2. Successfully completes Phase 1 training through the Neurosquential Model and utilizes this model to assist in guiding assessment and treatment plans
3. Uses the DSM 5, and subsequent updated versions, to assist in guiding assessment and treatment planning
4. Assesses client’s level of developmental, cognitive, and emotional functioning
5. Provides clients with clinical assessment and evaluation to inform appropriate clinical treatment goals and intervention strategies
6. Completes treatment planning process, to include clear treatment objectives, goals, and intervention strategies to be reviewed with the Therapy Team Manager during treatment plan reviews
7. Completes standardizes assessment measures in a timely manner children and non-offending caregivers and uses these measures as part of the treatment process
8. Provides case management assessments and refers children and families to appropriate community resources
9. Provides psycho-education services for individuals and groups
10. Provides crisis counseling services for children and families as referred by CCP
11. Completes clinical intake for urgent clients referred for clinical services to include, explanation of informed consent, release of information, client rights and completion of thorough Initial Clinical Assessment
12. Assesses for psychiatric needs of children and refers as appropriate for psychiatric evaluation and possible medication management
13. Collaborates with the psychiatrist in the provision of psychotherapy services for children referred for psychiatric evaluation and medication management
14. Provides clinical case management follow up services for high-risk families with mental health needs
15. Works collaboratively with the Child Protection Team in the provision of services to clients
16. Conducts Center tours, as requested
17. Attends weekly supervision with the Chief Clinical Officer or designee to review client caseloads and professional development
18. Assists the Chief Clinical Officer or designee with program development activities as assigned
19. Upholds ethical guidelines and professional standards, including following the rules and regulations outlined by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners
20. Maintains professional licensure by completing the required number of Continuing Education Credits and renewing license on time
21. Notifies supervisor if any disruption to licensure occurs or if any investigation is initiated by the licensee’s applicable professional board
22. Attends regular staff meetings and other community meetings as assigned
23. Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the mission, core values and vision of the organization and the children’s advocacy model
24. Provides direct support via program coverage and volunteer support, as needed
25. Performs other duties as assigned
