The Lake Country Campus Pastor serves as the primary spiritual and organizational servant-leader of this community. By regularly teaching in the pulpit, coordinating the site staff, embodying Elmbrook multisite values, and catalyzing the unique passions of the region, the Campus Pastor will point the worshipping body and staff toward Jesus and into deeper missional impact.  

 

The candidate will bring demonstrated preaching excellence, the attentive heart of a shepherd, an eagerness to interact with the community, and tested leadership skills into this role. This individual will add expertise to Elmbrook’s multisite staff/Senior Lead Team and will support the long-term and strategic vision of the Senior Pastor while having significant autonomy to shape and serve the ministries distinct to the Lake Country campus.  

Qualifications

Major Responsibilities

  • Worship Leadership 
  • In alignment with Elmbrook’s theology, teach the community from God’s Word at the Lake Country campus 28 Sundays per year + major holidays as directed by Senior Pastor 
  • Preach/teach at other Elmbrook venues (Friday Fellowship, Women’s Gatherings, Brookfield Worship, etc.) approximately 10 times per year. 
  • Oversee the music/hosting/production/creative elements of worship services at Lake Country, with authority to design and select such elements as support the teaching. 
  • Attend weekly worship meetings with other pastors and leaders in Brookfield 

 

  • Shepherding Leadership 
  • Work with chaplains and care ministry to provide and oversee spiritual needs of the congregation, including but not limited to counseling, visitation, funerals and weddings. 
  • Provide office hours and regular availability for points of contact with members. 
  • Actively interface with other Lake Country ministries, James Place, and as appropriate with schools and civic organizations. 
  • Establish and embody a welcoming culture that seeks to bring lost persons to Jesus 

 

  • Administrative Leadership 
  • Gather, direct, and unite the Lake Country staff, currently (April 2025) consisting of  
  • Lake Country Campus Associate Pastor 
  • Lake Country Campus Worship Leader
  • Lake Country Campus Connections Director
  • Lake Country Campus Student Ministries Coordinator 
  • Lake Country Campus Children’s Ministry Pastor 
  • Through the above staff, provide support to other team members (Production Coordinator, Facilities Specialist, etc.) 
  • Lead weekly campus staff meetings and smaller meetings as deemed necessary 
  • Form and guide a Lake Country Campus site team to explore campus opportunities 
  • Identify and invest in potential campus leaders through targeted mentoring 
  • Prepare Lake Country-Specific Budgets with Executive Pastor of Operations 
  • Ensure Christlike working dynamics with The Augustine Academy and other building partners 

 

  • Team-Centered Leadership: 
  • Serve as a voting Elder of Elmbrook Church 
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team 
  • Serve as a member of the Formation Council 
  • Serve in generosity initiatives as directed by the Senior Pastor 

 

Qualifications

An ideal candidate for this role is a passionate Christ-follower who: 

  • Demonstrates a stable, mature, vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by ongoing personal life transformation.  
  • Possesses a completed Masters degree in ministry, with an M.Div preferred.  
  • Brings demonstrated experience guiding ministry teams, with staff leadership preferred. 
  • Has a proven track record of impactful teaching. 
  • Endorses Elmbrook’s statement of faith, vision, mission and core values. 
  • Supports and amplifies the vision of the Senior Pastor and Council of Elders. 
  • Values both resourcing and learning from the Global Church. 
  • Honors Jesus with a proper work/home proportion. 
  • Possess confidence and humility in the proper measures. 
  • Has the wisdom and courage to make difficult choices. 
  • Can articulate a biblical perspective on discipleship and has mentored, coached, and discipled others. 

 

Employment Information

This position is full-time, salaried and classified as exempt 40 hours/week.

Salary dependent on experience, skills & education.

Paid Time Off (PTO) – Full time employees are eligible to earn PTO.  PTO is accrued on a calendar year basis.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details. 

 

403b – Employees are eligible to participate in the 403b pension plan if they are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.  Entry dates for the 403b plan is the first of the month following date of hire.  On an employee’s first anniversary, Elmbrook will match up to 3%. Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

 

Additional Pastoral Benefits

  • Self-Employment

Elmbrook pastors are self-employed and responsible for filing and paying their federal and state income taxes.  Pastors who receive net earnings of at least $400 from the performance of pastoral duties must file a federal tax return regardless of whether they are exempt from Social Security coverage.

  • Housing Allowance

A housing allowance is given to our pastors for residence compensation.  You will receive a form from our HR Department for pastors to complete in order to assist us in determining the amount of housing allowance you will receive.  Pastors are permitted to exclude from their church income (for federal income tax purposes) a housing allowance designated by their employing church, to the extent that this allowance is used to pay housing expenses.

  • SECA

The Self Employment Contributions Act refers to the rate that self-employed people pay for Social Security. Self-employed persons pay the full SECA rate which is currently 15.3%.  Housing allowances are taxable for SECA tax calculations.  Elmbrook Church will pay each pastor approximately one half of pastors SECA pay.  Through an established calculation, payments are disbursed during the last payroll of both June and December.

Reporting Structure

The Campus Pastor – Lake Country will be accountable to either the Senior Pastor, or - at the discretion of the Senior Pastor - to the Executive Pastor of Ministries of Elmbrook Church
