CareFor is looking for a skilled, compassionate LVN to support patients when it matters most.

We’re seeking a dependable and responsive On-Call Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-touch, high-impact moments and is confident making clinical decisions independently in the field.

This position requires local travel throughout the Austin metro area (Georgetown to San Marcos). The On-Call RN must reside within this region and be available to respond in person during all on-call hours to supportĀ Hospice clients.


šŸ•‘šŸ’° Schedule & Compensation

This is a 7 on / 7 off on-call position—perfect for an LVN with hospice experience looking to earn additional income with a flexible schedule.

On-call hours:
• Weeknights: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• Weekends: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 8:00 AM (24-hour availability)

On-call stipend: $225/week for being on call (whether or not you're called out).
Active visit pay: $30–$35/hour (based on experience) for time spent responding to calls—from the moment you leave your home until the visit is complete.
Mileage is reimbursable for all in-person visits.

This structure allows for meaningful income with minimal disruption, ideal for someone who is already working part-time or wants a predictable on/off rotation.


🩺 What You'll Do:

  • Respond quickly and compassionately to after-hours needs from CareFor’s hospiceĀ clients.

  • Provide phone triage and determine if in-home visits are necessary.

  • Perform in-person assessments to manage new symptoms, urgent needs, or changes in condition.

  • Administer medications and treatments per plan of care or physician orders to relieve pain and manage distressing symptoms.

  • Offer crisis intervention and symptom management in coordination with the broader care team.

  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with families, caregivers, physicians, and interdisciplinary colleagues to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care.

  • Maintain timely and thorough documentation for every patient interaction.

  • Can perform a wide range of clinical tasks including wound care, G-tube feedings, trach care, and more.

  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of Texas

  • Residency within the Austin area (Georgetown to San Marcos)

  • Reliable transportation and readiness to travel locally at a moment’s notice

  • Availability to work 7 days on / 7 days off, including evenings, overnights, and weekends

  • Previous clinical experience in hospice or palliative care

  • Comfort providing care during end-of-life transitions
