Human Resources Director Synopsis: This position is responsible for the smooth operation of the church’s human resources. It includes staying up to date on legal changes and requirements as it pertains to applicants, onboarding, payroll, performance management, compensation and benefits. This position also consults with managers and supervisors on personnel issues and provides consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development and budget.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare Offer Letters and Compensation packages for New Employees. Produce annual Compensation Package letters for staff.
- Onboarding for New Hires. Follow up with supervisors regarding full orientation within the first 3 months of hire.Â
- Setup Health Insurance, Vision, Dental, LTD & ADD for Full Time New Hires. Ensure new hires have information to make benefit decisions. Walk through MERP process and procedures.
- Regularly Communicate the necessity of shopping for health providers and services to contain costs
- Verification/Research of Salaries for positions. Review purchased salary data every other year.
- Maintain data for Salary comparisons demographically/& for positions
- Prepare reports and data as needed for audits. (Workers Compensation, payroll etc…)
- Review annually contractually Health Insurance Benefits. Work with producer on finding solutions to contain costs. Work with broker to ensure information is clear and concise for open enrollment and facilitate open enrollment through the HR/payroll system. Transmit data as needed to broker for enrollment and verify accuracy.
- Problem solve, identify and assess administrative and or/managerial problems, initiate appropriate corrective action. Serve as a resource to assist in the legal steps for corrective behavior
- Contribute to improvements, innovations, and develop new procedures when necessary to help
HR operate more efficiently
- Implement a check list for new employees for all forms and salary letters. Ensure payroll and benefits are setup timely and correctly
- Conduct Exit Interviews of staff leaving; summarize responses for Executive Pastor and employee’s supervisor.
- Ensure Annual Housing Allowance forms for pastors are obtained and forwarded to Executive Pastor for Elder approval.
- Ensure all HR functions comply with federal, state, local regulations.
- Periodically conduct I-9 audit to ensure compliance with document retention requirements
- Oversee all background check procedures and implementation for processing of background checks for staff. Ensure staff background checks are conducted every two years.
- Ensure Ministry Safe training conducted every two years by staff.
- Report Workers Compensation claims to the carrier. Follow up with staff as needed
- Work with Executive Team regarding setting up Annual Reviews and/or checkpoints and follow up to ensure they are completed by staff/supervisors.
- Attend annual training/conference to keep current on all new laws and changes to human resources for the church staff
- Develop and maintain Employee Handbook as well as underlying policies and procedures
- Maintain all personnel files and keep current all documents.
- Cross train on medical reimbursement process. Review medical reimbursement requests to ensure IRS compliant. Process medical reimbursements as they come in. Ensure they remain within the budget.
- Process VOE requests timely and accurately.
- Act as backup for processing payroll. Issue bonus checks etc. Ensure fringe benefits are posted in payroll as needed.
- Train supervisory staff on approving PTO, Conferences, and non-exempt timecards. Review for follow up training as necessary.
- Setup schedules in payroll system for hourly staff and maintain schedules for holiday pay purposes.
- Review PTO at the end of the year and verify/correct PTO balance roll-over at the beginning of the year.
- All other duties assigned as needed by Executive Director of Business Administration
- Network with other HR professionals in and outside of churches to further our church ministry.
- Produce EEO annual report as required by law
- Produce ACA 1094 and 1095C forms as required by law.
- Uphold CCC’s mission, statement of faith, and core values.
- Work as a team player within the framework of a large church staff and team based
Ministry environment
- Assist other staff in times of special emphasis
- Build and maintain good staff relationships
