Position Overview:
St. Thomas University, a vibrant Catholic institution in Miami rooted in the values of faith and academic excellence, seeks a full-time Public Relations Specialist to join our Marketing & Communications team. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, skilled media strategist, and enthusiastic storyteller with a passion for elevating the university’s profile locally, nationally, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
- Pitch compelling stories to local, regional, and national media across print, broadcast, and digital platforms.
- Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and statements that align with institutional voice and Catholic identity.
- Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and community partners.
- Monitor media coverage, track placements, and maintain an up-to-date media contact database.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student leaders to identify newsworthy developments and coordinate timely responses.
- Collaborate with deans and faculty to identify subject matter experts to serve media requests.
- Assist in crisis communications planning and real-time media response, when needed.
- Support university events with press coverage, on-site media handling, and post-event reporting.
- Maintain message consistency across all external-facing platforms and align PR efforts with institutional strategic goals.
