Position Title: Director of Human Resources
Accountable to: President and CEO
General Description:
Under the supervision of the President and CEO this position organizes and manages the development and implementation of people (human resources) policies, programs, and services including, but not limited to, employee relations, recruitment, benefits and leave, professional development, employee engagement, performance management, HR law and regulatory compliance. As a leader and mentor, the Director provides guidance, support, and growth opportunities for the People team and the whole of the organization, ensuring they are equipped to meet the organization's evolving needs. Additionally, this hands-on role collaborates closely with departments across the organization to align employee relations strategies with the Food Banks mission and overall goals. Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership team.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and all its multiple functions while motivating staff and building a positive work environment.
- Lead the HR team strategy, provide guidance to the team ensuring they have the necessary resources to execute Human Resource functions effectively.
- Develop, implement, direct, and evaluate all areas of Human Resources operations including, but not
limited to, employee relations, recruitment, benefits and leave, professional development, employee
engagement, performance management, HR law, safety, I-9 and DOT Compliance and regulatory compliance.
- Provide Human Resource leadership and counsel on employee relations issues involving people, management, and leadership.
- Leverage best practices to monitor employee relations, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Address employee concerns ensuring organizational values and upholding the standard of excellence in
employee performance and supervisory training. Includes the monitoring of Lighthouse website, conducting and documenting impartial investigations.
- Ensure legal compliance of federal, state and local employment laws and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Department of Labor (DOL), Workers Compensation, and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
- Provide leadership coaching and support to supervisory staff on subjects related to employee development, employee relations, learning and team building.
- Gathers, maintains, analyzes, and reports HR metrics to identify trends, patterns, and insight and to support data-driven decision-making.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to the President and CEO on all things employee related, provide strategic vision around employee experience and workplace initiatives.
- Leads and/or oversees initiatives, processes, and functions such as:
- Safety includes training, accident reporting, insurance claims, etc.
- Payroll processes, procedures, and policies.
- Employee uniform policy, issuance, return and inventory.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, supplemental insurance.
- Oversee the organizations 403B retirement plan and audit.
- Employee events and organization wide projects
