Description

At The Grove, we are being changed by God to reach all people. Worship is an integral part of how God shapes us, helping us see and know Him for who He truly is and respond with reverence and obedience. The Music Director oversees/trains key leaders to arrange and rehearse worship bands to resource ministries according to standards of excellence. Additionally, this role will attend, supervise, and resource rehearsals for bands covering all ministries in need of music.
 

Reports to:       Worship Pastor

Works with:     Worship Ministry leadership and volunteers

Works:              Part-time, Approximately 25 hours per week, Salary

 

REHEARSAL & WORSHIP EXECUTION – 40%   

  • Provide leadership and feedback during services to maintain high musical and spiritual standards; serve with worship team on stage approximately three weekends per month.
  • Facilitate efficient and spiritually focused rehearsals.
  • Coordinate with technical staff and volunteers to ensure proper sound check procedures are in place.
  • Debrief worship services with key leaders to evaluate song execution, congregational engagement, and flow.

 PLANNING & PREPARATION – 30%

  • Recruit and develop musicians, proactively engaging, onboarding, and integrating them into the worship community.
  • Oversee weekly music arrangement and charting for rehearsals and services.
  • Create monthly schedule for bands and worship leaders; ensure set lists are posted timely.
  • Oversee set list creation to ensure a consistent worship atmosphere.
  • Research and introduce new songs which fit the church’s theology, musical style, and congregational voice.
  • Actively participate in weekly planning meetings to align music with themes and the flow of service.
  • Coordinate closely with Worship Pastor and Service Production Coordinator to ensure cohesive worship planning and execution.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT – 20%

  • Meet regularly with worship leaders from ministry departments for training and development.
  • Lead regular review sessions with key leaders to assess effectiveness and impact.
  • Deliver clear, constructive, and encouraging feedback to leaders and musicians.
  • Set individualized goals and proficiency benchmarks to help musicians grow in skill, leadership, and spiritual depth.

OTHER MINISTRY – 10%                                      

  • Cultivate intimacy with God and growth in Christ-like character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
  • Attend Worship Team meetings, church all-staff­ meetings, devotions, and trainings.
