The Assistant Director, alongside The Grove’s other preschool staff, serves as a missionary to the kids and families of our community. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director to connect the mission of the preschool with the mission of the church. This role oversees many daily administrative and leadership responsibilities of the preschool, and assists the Director with providing spiritual leadership to the staff. This is an ideal role for a person passionate about combining classroom excellence with spiritual development.

Works: Full-time, salary, approximately 40 hours per week
TEACHING AND CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT – 20%
- As needed, serve as lead teacher or assist lead teacher with all activities and classroom needs.
- Give full attention to safety, physical and emotional well-being of the children.
- Plan and arrange classroom activities through use of whole group instruction, independent learning centers and directed small groups.
- Supervise playground activity as needed.
ADMINSITRATIVE OVERSIGHT – 45%
- Plan and coordinate activities: schedule via Planning Center, coordinate vendors, linens and catering as needed.
- Interface with Facilities staff on maintenance and repair needs.
- Develop relationships with church employees and outside organizations.
- With Director, oversee accuracy of student and staff records.
- With other office staff, respond to student injuries, illnesses & interventions; notify parents, isolate child, ensure procedures are followed.
STAFF LEADERSHIP – 25%
- With Director, evaluate preschool effectiveness, ensure compliance with licensing requirements, and oversee implementation of safety procedures.
- Oversee staff scheduling and substitution needs.
- Cover Director’s responsibilities when Director is out – respond to staff discipline issues and concerns, serve as primary contact for parents, coordinate with licensing, any additional responsibilities as needed.
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP – 10%
- With Director, ensure preschool aligns with the spiritual vision of The Grove.
- Participate in daily staff devotions and prayer; lead staff devotions and prayer in Director’s absence.
- Model Biblical principles in interactions with parents and children. Communicate the gospel message as you have opportunity.
- Cultivate intimacy with God and growth in Christ-like character.
REQUIREMENTS
- 12 ECE units from an accredited State‐approved school and at least 2 years experience in a satisfactory role.
- Completion of Administration course.
- Certified in Child CPR/First Aid.
