We are headquartered in Portland, Oregon and own/operate over 50 elevators and offices throughout WA, ID, MN, MT, NE and ND to support our domestic and export sales program.

Position Description:

The Conditioning Seed Mill Operator will work closely with the Seed Division Manager to ensure all conditioning requests meet our customers’ needs. The role may consist of seed conditioning, grading, treating, packaging, shipping, and overall maintenance work in the conditioning facility. The candidate should have a good mechanical aptitude and must be able to work together with others while still having the ability to complete tasks on their own and on time. The Conditioning Seed Mill Operator assumes responsibility for the efficient and accurate operation of the seed conditioning / treating and packaging mill.

Qualifications

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform work activities safely and in compliance with all company programs
  • Ability to understand and operate conditioning equipment in seed plant
  • Communicate effectively and positively to other employees and internal customers
  • Ability to ensure a quality product in areas of responsibility
  • Weigh all trucks and label appropriately and correctly with type of product. Ensure that all trucks are labeled with the correct contents.
  • Keep inventory of product that is in bins/ bulk, keep inventory-tracking programs up-to-date and accurate. Report inventory of product to office personnel daily.
  • Package product according to customer specifications.
  • Understand and follow shipping procedures for accurate deliveries and returns
  • Keep all work areas in a clean and organized condition including Mill and treating equipment,
  • Maintaining efficient use of time to ensure company profitability
  • Performing additional duties as directed
  • Work in a manner consistent with “Quality and Customer First.”
  • Assist with other business activities as necessary including assisting at the plant.

 

Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree preferred, minimum High School diploma.
  • Minimum 5 yrs experience operating Seed conditioning, treating and packaging equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Intermediate Computer knowledge
  • Advanced Mill operation setup and mechanical skills.
  • Good work ethic (team environment, both safe and quality), efficient and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move freely throughout the operations plant to include walking on elevated platforms, standing, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling and crawling
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and move up to 100 lbs.
  • Exposure to extreme climate temperatures, humidity and noise
  • Must be able to work in high places and confined spaces (height up to 100 feet).
  • Occasionally required to taste and smell
  • Required to wear protective equipment to include hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear, gloves, coveralls, and other PPE as required.
