Job Title:        Birthday Party Supervisor

Department:  Recreation

Location:        1500 E. Euclid, Mount Prospect, IL 60056

Reports To:    Recreation Manager

Supervises:   Birthday Party Helper

Status:            Part-time, Non-exempt

 

Essential Functions

The Birthday Party Supervisor is responsible for making sure everything is set up for the birthday party, lead the party, and clean up after the party.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the park district’s policies and operations and enforce them in a positive manner
  • Responsible for arriving 30 minutes before the party to set up
  • Greet the children and parents coming in for the party and get children involved in an activity
  • Be knowledgeable and prepared for type of party and number of children attending
  • Responsible for leading activities (sports/Arrow tag) on the turf
  • At the end of the party, be sure to clean everything that was used and put it away
  • Responsible for seeing that facility and supplies are not damaged or supplies lost
  • Make sure party balance is paid and put it on registration form
  • Clean up all the garbage and leave bags in gray bin of storage area
  • Attend and participate in staff and training meetings
  • Document and submit all accident/incident reports
  • Communicate to supervisor when supplies are needed
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned

 

Risk Management

  • Actively supports and enforces the safety program instituted by the Park District
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all general agency and department-specific safety rules
  • Attends required safety program and in-service education meetings as directed
  • Corrects unsafe conditions and/or reports them to your director supervisor
  • Enforces safety disciplinary policies and procedures
  • Uses protective gloves, masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to pathogens
  • Always make sure all equipment and rooms used are free from any safety hazards.
  • Obey the practical and safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the safety program of the River Trails Park District.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Ability to work well with children and adults; creative and flexible.

 

 

 

Recommended Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment
  • Experience working with children
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills

5.         Employee will be required to perform the following work:

 

_          Sedentary Work         Lifting 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.  Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

 

   X        Light Work.                Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.  Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is in this category when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree or when it involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.

 

             Light Medium Work.  Lifting 30 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

             Heavy Work.              Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
