Practice Group Director

Position Summary:

MDK, an innovative law firm, is seeking a Practice Group Director (PGD) to support Attorneys, Operations Managers, Legal Pod members, and other teams involved in both routine and non-routine services within the practice area. The PGD is to assist with ensuring compliance with legal requirements; suggesting process improvements; and responding to and advising clients related to areas within the practice area. The PGD will carry a caseload in the practice area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain a positive learning environment, encouraging and motivating attorneys to question, verify and perform at their highest levels. Actively seek to ensure open communication and teamwork.
• Routinely monitor case assignments, and court deadlines to ensure compliance and the highest quality of work product.
• Routinely monitor reports and metrics related to portfolio performance.
• Collaborate with Attorneys, Operations Managers, and other teams to resolve systemic issues.
• Keep apprised of changes in statutory and case law affecting the respective areas of practice.  Interpret laws, rulings, regulations, and other appropriate legal sources pertaining to the areas of practice.  Disseminate updates to the appropriate staff and compliance persons. 
• Work directly with Attorneys in practice area to determine case strategy.  Cultivate open communication flow, transparency, and accountability.
• Understand client challenges and goals to assist the Attorneys and Legal Pod Staff in promoting the best possible outcome for clients. Manage risks associated with portfolio at consumer, court and client levels.
• Regularly review Client Scorecards and Audits to educate and assist Attorneys and Legal Pod staff in adjusting processes to exceed client expectations and requirements.
• Collaborate with other PGDs to establish and maintain general attorney training materials and establish and maintain state or product specific training materials for Attorneys. Collaborate with Operations Managers in the creation, improvement, and maintenance of Legal Pod staff training materials. Provide education and trainings to staff as part of the internal professional development program.
• Work with Operations Managers and Human Resources on internal training initiatives.
• Collaborate with Marketing team members to identify and develop new legal service offerings and clients.
• Work with Attorneys to ensure that they understand how they contribute to fulfilling MDK’s mission in their role, conduct regular meetings with the staff and actively promote continued open dialog and transparency about their success, opportunities, and professional goals.
• Collaborate with Executive Team and Operations Managers to review and refine processes and ensure quality. 
• Support team in meeting firm expectations and goals.
• Develop a thorough understanding of MDK culture and outlook for the upcoming years and work with attorney group to ensure that they have the tools necessary to be a successful contributor and supporter of MDK’s mission and culture. Provide mentorship to Attorneys on business and legal issues.
• Work with Finance to create and manage budget for areas of practice.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree and actively licensed in Ohio.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant legal and leadership experience required.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, personable, and able to build relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office products.
• Able to travel as needed.

Schedule & Benefits:
