Description

Charlotte Latin School is hiring on-call Substitute Teachers at The Nest for the 2025-26 school year. Substitutes will help the teachers manage the classroom effectively with compassion, high energy, attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving strategies. The Nest is open from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Meet the individual needs of the children
  • Interact with children to support learning through play
  • Present expectations that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level
  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff
  • Complete required training hours as prescribed by the NC Division of Child Development
  • Comply with school policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • One year of experience with young children preferred.
  • State and Federal Background checks are required at time of hire and every five years.
  • Annual Health Questionnaire (required by NC DCDEE)
  • Health and safety training upon hire.

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
  • Frequently talk and hear.
  • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
  • Long or odd hours, as needed.
