Are you a passionate and innovative Art Teacher ready to inspire the next generation of artists? Charlotte Latin School is searching for an experienced, enthusiastic, and creative Art Teacher to join our vibrant Upper School Visual Arts Department beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year. This full-time, 10-month position offers a unique opportunity to shape young minds and contribute to a thriving arts community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare Lessons with developmentally appropriate instruction about historical context and technique.
  • Adhere to the TK-12 scope and sequence that coincides with the State and National Standards.
  • Maintain all mounting and displays for the Upper School Division.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team with flexibility and innovation.
  • Prepare and order supplies for classroom setup and learning objectives; Inventory and monitor supplies as needed.
  • Work in and provide instruction in various mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, collage, pastel, and graphite.
  • Integrate art history and cultural relevance into each lesson.
  • Maintain classroom management routines.
  • Facilitate a clean and safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field; Master's preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an art teacher.
  • Submit a personal portfolio showing a wide range of variety and techniques.

  • Proficient in using technology as an instructional complement.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for independent education and the mission of Charlotte Latin School, including a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
  • Frequently talk and hear.
  • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor heat and cold temperatures.
  • Long or odd hours, as needed.
